You know, I agree that Chuck Cannon is one mighty fine songwriter, but, one thing is for sure, he did not write my song "How Do You Like Me Now" I wrote the song in 1978 and gave it to Toby Keith in a bar in Victorville, California back in 1993 when Toby had just completed recording with Mercury Records his Should've Been A Cowboy album. I played the song for Toby on his own guitar while the band was on break and waited till after the next set and break at Toby's request to play it for him again so I did and I wrote the lyrics on a bar napkin and told Toby it should have a sort of Doobie Brothers Listen to the Music sort of arrangement which I am sure that Chuck probably supplied that arrangement and licks. It is my opinion that Toby Keith probably brought my song "How Do You Like Me Now" to Chuck to help Toby get the song ready for recording and so the two of them polished up my song and Toby never told Chuck the actual origin of the song. I am in no way trying to defame Chuck, I believe in the beginning he was innocent especially since he was once the president of the NSAI which I am a former member, the Nashville Songwriters Association is a multi purpose org and one of it's missions is to help songwriters protect their songs, right Chuck. I did not have copyright protection on my song when I gave it to Toby Keith that night so Toby slapped his own copyright on it but that still does not set aside the truth and the fact that I wrote the original song "How Do You Like Me Now" I have contacted Toby's label and they shine me on knowing I don't have that copyright. You know, integrity is one thing that is set aside by some in the music business and there are a few who think honesty doesn't mean anything once you pockets are full enough to walk all over those little people who are actually the real creators of a lot of the material we all listen to today. So folks, stay tuned, I am going totally public as I can with this, magazines, writing a book, maybe a movie script and I hope and pray that none of you songwriters out there ever get dupped like this, remember, always copyright, just go to the Library of Congress site on the internet for details in case you don't know how to copyright. Oh yea, just in case anyone wants to go to court over this, I'd love to get Toby's word under oath that he wrote my song, then we can see just how that goes. Peace, CBW

It is a flat out lie that Toby Keith wrote "How Do You Like Me Now" I, BOB WALLACE, wrote that song in 1978 and I ran in to Toby in a bar in Victorville California in 1993 and gave him the song that night. I played the song for him on his own guitar 1st while the band was taking a break and at Toby's request that I wait for them to play their next set so I could play it for him again because he really liked my song and wanted to do something with it. I wrote the lyrics on bar napkins and told Toby if he was successful with the song I woanted a new Dodge truck, he then said if he did something with it that he would definitely take care of me. I also told him that the song should have a kind of Doobie Brothers "Listen to the Music kind of shuffle which is where Chuck Cannon probably came in as he probably supplied the licks for the arrangement and Toby probably didn't even mention that I gave him the song. Hey Toby, I know sometimes it's got to be difficult for you to live with this lie. You know, it's really sad that when some artists become rich and famous that they think they can they can say anything and it don't really matter if what they say is true or not. You know there is a site online that allows a platform for anyone to post anything, slanderous or otherwise about businesses and I am sure that some are justified, but, if I were a betting man, I would say that the majority could be deemed either gray-area remarks or simply flat out lies. There are businesses that actually should be put out of business for unsavory business practices and that's why we have a court system, Chamber of Commerce, The Better Business Bureau, etc. etc. but there are many that get slandered, belittled, disgraced on the site called YELP.com and without any proven facts whatsoever. This site allows for bewildered people, nut-cases, habitual trouble makers, people who can't get attention anywhere else in life so they vent their power to attempt to destroy someone's business just because they can whether they have in fact be mistreated by a business or not. Most stores have some specific policies(i.e., all sales final, no returns, all warranties by the manufacturer, etc.) and when these are explained before the purchase and the customer buys with a clear understanding, takes it home and decides they just don't want it and attempt to return knowing there is a no return policy and they are then refused the return, they go to YELP.com and try to slander a business in to getting their way. I actually had a customer come in to my furniture store and part of the way in to showing my product the customer asked if I Yelped and I told her I didn't know what that meant. She explained it was a website where she could post what she thought about my business and that she had something like 72,000 visitors and that I better give her a good deal if I didn't want a bad Yelp. If I had of been a little smarter at the time, I would have told this person I will not do business with her, this was actual a threat, a black-mail tactic. You guessed it, I did everything I could to make her a happy customer and had a couple small mistakes that I admitted I made and told her I would correct immediately, but, before I could do anything to right the situation she negative YELPED me. I remedied the situation by telling her we would pick up all the merchandise, refund every penny of her money and she could do her shopping anywhere else she wished, just not here. No site or media should ever be allowed to publish any unproven stories without knowing any portion of the facts and/or without knowing the mental stability or intentions of the person posting. It is my opinion that there will soon be very strong legal actions taken against YELP and they will be held accountable and I will assist in any legal actions. I believe the public should know about crooked dishonest businesses, but, for someone to simply throw a tantrum because they didn't get their way and to post a bunch of lies in an effort to try and destroy someone and/or their business is libelous and will eventually be addressed in the court system and some could suffer their liabilities.
